For those who do not already know this—-there is yet another telephone scam out there. If you receive a call that looks like this on your Caller ID- – Unavailable and 000-000-0000…..DO NOT ANSWER!!! They pose as a computer security company and try to get you to connect your PC to the internet and enter something that they tell you so that they can connect to your PC and scan for anything that might be affecting your PC. BUT—they are actually scanning for all your personal information and passwords. At the same time, the information that they had you inter, contains a virus that will lock your PC and the next time you try to use it, you are locked out and they are the only ones who can unlock it, causing you to have to PAY them to unlock it, or have your hard drive destroyed.
A neighbor alerted me to this, saying that a friend of his had actually answered one of these calls, thereby finding out what it was all about. I have had some of these calls on both my land line and cell, but do not answer. Somehow, all those zero’s seemed suspicious to begin with.
We have all heard the adage ‘When opportunity knocks……’. Well, when this ‘opportunity’ knocks or calls….DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR!!!
